Papillon
Where is the project at?
We have been working on this script for about a year, almost every Sunday for a few hours, working over Zoom, Fanny in the US, and Victoria in Belgium.
We have tried applying for grants, but we need a production company to accompany us.
We are looking to collaborate with a Belgian, French, or international production company that isn’t afraid to shake things up and transform the French-speaking film industry.
A 25-year-old Belgian woman heads to Paris to pursue her dream: becoming an actress. There, she meets a narcissistic and manipulative coach. She must survive her hypersensitivity, the sexual harassment of a famous director, the relentless pace of rehearsals, and the multiple strokes of her grandfather, “Papillon.”
The origin of the screenplay
Papillon isn't just fiction, it's the reality of thousands of young actors all over the world, like Fanny & Victoria, who get "broken down" in acting schools by scarred teachers, who believe that's the way the film industry has to be.
Harassment in all its forms has to be talked about to shut it down.
Fanny and Victoria believe people make the industry, and we can make it compassionate, professional, and safe for everyone.
Fanny & Victoria
The writers, Fanny and Victoria, have a 13-year difference. They are not related, but they're like family. When they didn't know each other yet, they both attended the same ballet school. They both grew up passionate about music, dance, acting, and desserts. They talk a lot, they laugh a lot, and they both cry a lot too. They're hypersensitive and feel all the feels. They dream big, and when they have a goal, they don't let go of it until they make it happen.
